TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures

Application timeline: Please see website for more information.
TA program structure: The program is run through a state-level TA Office. The state uses a competitive selection process, and funds are distributed directly by the state TA Office.
Who is eligible to apply: Municipality, County, State agency, Tribe, University, or Natural Resource District.
Application components: Project narrative, budget, and letter of support from state or local agency.
Selection criteria: The state does not fund Category 9 projects (Inventory and Removal of Outdoor Advertising). Selection criteria include: anticipated benefits for the community, anticipated number of users/beneficiaries, eligibility, environmental impact, fit with comprehensive planning goals, geographic location, level of public support, linkage to transportation system, need for funds to complete project, maintenance commitment, relationship to other projects, project innovation, and secured matching funds.
Application tips: The TA program funds project design, engineering, and construction. To improve chances of selection, applicants should make sure the proposed project meets all requirements of the TE program.
Is there an advisory committee?: Yes
Advisory committee members: The committee is composed of 12 members from diverse areas of expertise, including landscape architects and preservationists, and representatives from the State Historic Preservation Office, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Economic Development’s Office of Tourism, a retired Professional Engineer, the University of Nebraska, Environmental Committee, Chamber of Commerce Director, Governor’s Council on Fitness, and a lay person.

Project award maximum: $500,000
Match requirements: 20%
