TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures
- Application timeline: Applications close on 6/1/22. Please see website for more information.
- TA program structure: Arkansas DOT (ARDOT) manages the Transportation Alternatives and Recreational Trails programs.
- Application tips: Federal funds from ARDOT TAP can only be used on infrastructure construction. ARDOT will occasionally consider awarding funds for other project phases of regionally-significant projects on a case-by-case basis.
- Who is eligible to apply: Local government, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resource or public land agencies, school districts, and tribal governments
- Application components: Project sponsor, ability to provide match, TA project eligibility, community benefits, project description and implementation plan, cost estimate, project status (permits, environmental clearance, etc), right of way, project maintenance plan, project scalability
- Selection criteria: The project management division reviews all applications for eligibility. Those applications which meet all requirements are forwarded to the Advisory Committee for scoring
- Is there an advisory committee?: Yes
- Advisory committee members: Representatives from the Arkansas Municipal League, the Association of Arkansas Counties, Department of Parks and Tourism, FHWA, Local Federal-aid Program Administration Section, ARDOT Division Head, and a member representing the health & wellness of bicyclists and pedestrians
- Project award minimum: $20,000 for projects containing infrastructure components
- Project award maximum: $500,000
- Match requirement: 20%. In-kind match not permitted
