TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures
- Application timeline: Please see website for more information.
- TA program structure: Transportation Alternatives (TA) projects and activities encompass smaller-scale transportation projects such as pedestrians and bicycle facilities, historic preservation, safe routes to school and other transportation-related activities.
- Application tips: TAP funds on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects for improving non-driver access to public transportation and improved mobility, community improvement activities, and environmental remediation. RTP funds do not support new trail development (unless related to an existing trail), planning, feasibility studies or sidewalks/urban trails.
- Who is eligible to apply: Local governments, Regional transportation authorities, Transit agencies, Natural resource or public land agencies, School districts/local education agencies/schools, Tribal governments and any other local or regional governmental entity with responsibility for oversight of transportation or recreational trails that the State determines to be eligible (WSDOT and non-profits are no longer eligible sponsors).
- Application components: Each RTPO has their own application requirements.
- Selection criteria: Each RTPO sets its own selection criteria based on regional priorities

- Match requirement: 13.5%
