TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures

Application timeline: Applications close on 10/1/22. Please see website for more information.
TA program structure: Approximately $4.6 million is available through a competitive project selection process administered by the South Department of Transportation (SDDOT) Office of Project Development.
Application tips: TA includes the Safe Routes to School, Scenic Byways and Recreation Trails Programs. These project types should all be submitted under the TA call for Letters of Intent. In order to be eligible to submit a full application for funding, an applicant must have previously submitted a Letter of Intent form and completed a site visit or project call with the SDDOT.
Who is eligible to apply: Local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resources or public lands agencies, schools, tribal governments, non-profits, MPOs representing populations less than 200,000, the State, and any other local or regional governmental entity with responsibility for oversight of transportation or recreational trails.
Application components: Project and contact information, project type, location, project description, project relevancy to TA criteria, project costs form, budget, match, detailed map, demonstrations of public support and involvement, relevant project information, sponsor resolution, scope of consultant services, scope of work, submittal
Selection criteria: Project type, transportation relevance, compatibility with relevant state and regional planning, project feasibility, community support, projected use and value, economic conditions and impact, safety and connectivity, ordinances and design,
Is there an advisory committee?: Yes.
Advisory committee members: Appointed by SDDOT
Project award minimum: $50,000
Project award maximum: $600,000
Match requirement: 18.05%
