TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures
- Application timeline: Applications close on 1/20/22. Please see website for more information.
- TA program structure: The purpose of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), formerly known as Community Choices for Idaho, is to provide for a variety of alternative transportation projects to address the needs of non-motorized users and to advance the Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) strategic goals of Mobility, Safety and Economic Opportunity while maximizing the use of federal funds.
- Application tips: ITD programs 100% of it’s $7.5 million apportionment each cycle. The state funds both infrastructure and non-infrastructure TA projects; all projects are to be identified through a planning process that includes public involvement, needs analysis and a project prioritization process which will be vetted in the project application process.
- Who is eligible to apply: Local government, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resource or public land agencies, school districts, non-profit partners, and tribal governments
- Application components: Project name, sponsor, cost estimates, and information pertinent to the selection criteria. Applicants are encouraged to attach additional project information including site maps, letters of support, assessment of environmental concerns, cost estimates, etc.
- Selection criteria: Project need, ROW, environmental screening, easement and access agreement, community need, benefit, feasibility, reporting
- Is there an advisory committee?: Yes, ITD maintains a recommendation committee to review applications.
- Project award minimum: None.
- Project award maximum: $500,000 for infrastructure projects; $60,000 for non-infrastructure
- Matching policies: 7.34%; In-kind match is not permitted
